The location for tonight's School Committee Meeting has been changed.

The meeting will be held in the Cranston High School East Auditorium at 899 Park Avenue.

The School Committee will meet tonight (Monday, February 2nd, 2009) at Western Hills Middle School. Public session begins at 6:30pm, followed by a public work session at 7pm during which school committee members will deliberate their decisions regarding cuts.

The public will have the opportunity to speak out on budget issues/cuts - a sign up sheet is provided by the podium prior to the beginning of the meeting. Names can be added during the break. Speaking time is limited approximately 3 minutes per person.

The Cranston School Committee will begin the process of hearing public comment and evaluating the proposed budget at their 7pm meeting on Wednesday, January 28th at Western Hills Middle School.

The Superintendent of Schools has submitted his proposal for the 2009/2010 school year to the School Committee.

The proposed list of programs and items to be eliminated includes:

• Elementary Strings
• Middle School Sports
• Summer Reading Program
• District Wide Text Books
• District Wide Library Books
• and more
