The great thing about a PTO is that the organization as a whole is as strong as it's collective parts.
Our mission this year is to continue to provide enrichment to the students at Orchard Farms by organizing events such as Cultural Arts, After School Activities, Book Fair, Holiday Shop etc. We will continue to fundraise in order to offset budget shortfalls in the classroom and to provide long lasting school improvements such as the lobby display cases, stage risers, stage curtains etc. We will bring the community together with fun social events, such as the upcoming Fall Harvest outing. We are committed to bringing fun to the school- Spirit Week is back and a Committee is being formed to look at improving Field Day. As an organization we will work with school faculty and discover new ways to make an impact on the lives of our students.
In addition to these ongoing committments, this year our organization is focused on welcoming new parents to the PTO. We have a strong core group of parents who are very dedicated and appreciated. We are hoping to grow our organization this year as we have many new exciting ideas that we'd love to see executed. One great example is the opportunity to have students participate in an Artist Exchange program that would supplement their curriculum with music, art and theatre enrichment. A fine example of how the PTO, in partnership with our Principal, can offset the effects of program losses due to budget cuts. Ideas such as this come to fruition when we work as a team.
Let us find a way for you to become involved! Membership will only take as much time as you are able to give. Maybe you have a special interest or hobby that would fit in with one of our existing committees? Perhaps you like to bake? Coach? Would you like to Chair a new project and make it into something special? Maybe you can come in to the school and help out with our Food Drive once a year or lead our After School program? What ever your level of participation, our goal is to involve as many parents as we can. These elementary school years go by so fast and the same opportunities to be in and around the school setting and to set that strong example of educational committment don't exist at the middle school level.
As PTO president I am open to new ideas and suggestions. Our Executive Board is wonderful and we have a great working relationship with Mr. Charpentier. We are set for a new year of possibilities! I hope you will consider playing a part on our collective team.
