We had to wait a little longer this year but summer is finally here…and then we had to wait out the rain and now its here. I hope that you are planning some fun summer activities and keeping busy.
This year at Orchard Farms was very successful. In my first year as principal, I am overjoyed with our accomplishments. The students did a great job with both academic and behavior and they should be proud of their accomplishments. The school again was ranked as high performing.
I see next year, which starts on September 1st for students, as another year of accomplishments for Orchard Farms. We have a fabulous score of 92% in NECAP reading but this takes very hard work on the part of our faculty and students to maintain. Our math score of 75% can be improved and you will hear me address this issue many times next year. We have plans to focus our efforts and improve this score over the next two years. There is much to do but first we need a rest.
Look for our mailings at the beginning of August advertising our orientation times and dates for 1st graders and kindergarten students.
The summer can be a time for rest and some learning if you visit many of the places in Rhode Island and in the United States that offer rest, relaxation, and exposure to our rich history. As for me, I’m conducting a study this summer in rating some of our East coast beaches as we hit the road in our motor home.
Have a safe and happy summer.
