4th Quarter, Behavior, Dress, Electronics, Fundraiser, Important Dates

Dear Parents & Students of Orchard Farms:

Here we are with third quarter report cards going out Wednesday and the fourth quarter underway. I met with the students this morning and reminded them to set lofty goals for the fourth quarter and finish the year strong. Also, IOWA tests begin April 21st for 2nd through 5th graders so it is imperative that they come to school rested and prepared.

There have been some issues of poor behavior on our buses and in the lunch room. I reviewed with the students the use of quiet voices and the procedures for quieting down to prepare for class. Students that do not follow procedures will be required to fill out a reflection sheet which will then be reviewed by his-her teacher and if the situation warrants, the principal.

With the warm weather fast approaching, we reviewed the student dress code. The following was emphasized:

Shoes: If appropriate for the beach…not for school.
Shorts: If they look too short…they are…leggings do not count.
Shirts: Must have sleeves…no midriff showing.
If clothing is meant for the outdoors, it is not to be worn in school.

Electronic devices are prohibited in school. Games should not be brought to school. Cell phones must be kept off and in lockers.

There was a discussion about bullying and harassment. The rule of “Every student has the right to come to school free from the fear or anxiety of being bullied or harassed.” Was emphasized and explained.

And finally, the top ten pie sellers were awarded with gift certificates to Target:

Rachael Perrotta $25. Victoria Calestino $35. Elena Maggiacomo $50.
Garrett Doidge $25. Ashley Omigie $35. Dante DelBonis $50.
Rachel Pilderian $25. Mikayla Albanese $35. Mitchell Crosby $50.
Christopher Yuettner $25.

The top selling home room (89 pies) was Grade 3: Mrs. Germanowski Room 118

The faculty was invited to a field trip to purchase classroom supplies on the Thursday before vacation with some of our fundraiser money.
The rewards of pencil toppers and rings will be passed out soon in home rooms.
